Everybody in network marketing needs encouragement from time to time. As much as we like to say, “Look at what I built!” we have to remember always that this is not something we can do alone. That’s why we call it network marketing instead of do-it-alone marketing. While you can make a good living in ...

Why Ambit Energy for Your Home Based Business? Take a Look at One of the USA’s Fastest Growing Companies!

When Ambit Energy co-founders Jere Thompson, Jr., and Chris Chambless founded the company in 2006 in Dallas, Tex., they knew they were not first to market, so they concentrated on being the best. They studied what worked and what didn’t work in the deregulated energy marketplace.

The result is a streamlined company that doesn’t produce or deliver energy, but buys it wholesale and then resells it through an ever-growing direct sales force of independent Ambit Energy consultants who are paid to sign up customers and other agents.

Today, Ambit is one of the fastest growing companies in the United States.

Entrepreneurial Heritage, Deregulated Industry Experience

Thompson and Chambless brought impressive business credentials with them to Ambit. As a boy Thompson worked on the dairy farms and in the distribution systems of 7-Eleven®, which his grandfather established in 1927.

After earning an MBA from the University of Texas he went on to build a telecommunications company from scratch. It rapidly grew to more than 1,300 employees in the early days of deregulation in the telecom...

How My Home Based Business with Ambit Energy Set Me Up for Early Retirement with More Family Time Now

I had never considered a home based business.  I had a great corporate job with a big national company – good pay, prestige and benefits.

From the outside it looked wonderful, but it was killing me on the inside. I was working 60-70 hours per week, leaving home before my daughter woke up and getting home after she went to bed. What kind of family life is that?

Still, the money was good, and I had good benefits. I could visualize some sort of retirement in the distant future, but never gave early retirement a thought. It just wasn’t realistic.

My brother David was in a similar situation when he first heard about Ambit Energy. When he investigated it he thought Ambit might be what he was looking for, so he signed up. This was in the very early days of Ambit.

David asked our mother, Esther, to take a look because she was a career sales professional. She said something like, “That’s nice David, but I don’t have time for it.” She wasn’t looking for a home based business opportunity.

It wasn’t long before Mom changed her mind. The more she looked at the numbers, the more sense they made to...

Pillar #5: Encourage Your Network Marketing Team Daily

Everybody in network marketing needs encouragement from time to time. As much as we like to say, “Look at what I built!” we have to remember always that this is not something we can do alone. That’s why we call it network marketing instead of do-it-alone marketing. While you can make a good living in many direct sales organizations just selling products or services, the real opportunities are in the residual income and bonuses you can earn by building a strong down line organization. As you build your organization it’s important to keep in touch constantly with the people in it by all means possible – email, video email, greeting cards, conference calls, newsletters, group meetings and training sessions, to name a few.

The Personal Touch

However, set aside special time to call people or stop in to see them face to face, especially your key producers. The majority of your down line income will be generated by a handful of people, even if you have thousands in your organization – and the same will be true for theirdown lines. Treating these people well is insurance for your business. Everybody needs encouragement from...

Pillar #4: Direct Sales Professionals Must Ask for the Order

The most important part of any direct sales presentation is asking for the order. Without a call to action your presentation is just information, but with one, your presentation can be life changing.

You must ask people to take action on your proposal. That can be as simple as asking, “What do you think of that?” or “Does that make sense to you?”

Open-end and Closed-end Questions

Those are two very different types of questions. One can be answered with a simple yes or no, but the other calls for the person to compose a response in her own words.

Questions that request only a yes or no are called “closed end” questions; the ones that allow the other person to be more expressive are called “open ended” questions.

An open-ended question can provide a lot of information. One way to narrow a person’s response is to ask a more specific open-ended question, such as, “What do you like best about that?” Often, the answers people give aloud help them convince themselves to take action.

After making my Ambit Energy presentation I often ask the other person, “Do you see yourself more as a customer or a consultant?”

Either answer is fine...

Pillar #3: Present to People on Your Direct Sales List Every Day

The purpose of your direct sales presentation is to inform and persuade; to move the prospect to take action.

You always need to explain the features of what you offer, but stress the benefits. In other words, remember WIIFM – what’s in it for me? How will your product or service make things better for the client?

The network marketing organization you join will have a direct sales presentation that has been carefully developed to move people to action. Learn it and use it. As you gain more confidence you may personalize the presentation to make it your own, but don’t stray far from the core presentation.

Know What You Are Going to Say

Right from the start, memorize the contents of your presentation, but don’t make it sound like a canned pitch. Think of different ways to say the same thing so you can keep it interesting for yourself.

When you know what you are going to say in a direct sales setting you can get back on track quickly when you get questions or interruptions (as you almost always will).

Keep It Focused

In general terms, the shorter...

Pillar #2: Invite People to See Your Direct Sales Presentation

Direct sales is the business model used by most network marketing companies. In almost every case you will do well to think of “selling” as helping people solve problems, not pressing them to buy.

Activity is the key. Your income in direct sales will be directly related to how many times you make your business presentation. After all, prospective clients and recruits can’t take action on something they don’t know about.

It should come as no shock, but people will not be lined up outside your door every morning, waiting breathlessly for your wisdom.

While you can – and should – build a reputation that precedes you, a reputation that makes people want to hear what you have to say – it’s up to you to get in front of people to tell them how you can help them.

Invite Someone to Hear Your Presentation!

As you talk to people invite them to a group presentation meeting, a one-on-one meeting, a three way call, an online presentation, DVD presentation, or a phone presentation. There are plenty of ways to invite someone to see your presentation; it’s just a matter of asking. And it’s vital to success in direct sales.

Pillar #1: Add People to Your Network Marketing Business

A successful network marketing business requires a steady flow of potential clients and recruits. This means your job is more a matter of finding people than “selling” them, so your first (and ongoing) task is to add quality people.

The first thing you should do if you even think you may be interested in network marketing is make a list of all the people you know whom you believe could benefit from your product or service, or might like to get into the business themselves. Both types contribute to your success.

Notice I placed the emphasis on benefit to the customer, not to you. If you provide value, your customers will benefit and so will you. Your list is like money in the bank; it is your most important business asset.

Here are some ways to keep your list growing steadily:

  • Daily Activities – Write down names on your list as you meet people in the course of daily activities – work, school, church, and community meetings – wherever you go. Don’t worry about approaching them yet, just keep adding to your list.
  • Networking Groups – If you haven’t been to a networking...

5 Pillars of Network Marketing Success

5 Pillars of Network Marketing Success

Network marketing can pave a path to financial freedom for those who really want it. But make no mistake: you have to want it and you have to work for it.

You have to know what to do, as well as how and when to do it. For that you need a mentor; someone who is successful in business and wants to show you how to be successful, too.

Regardless of the product or service you offer, the things your must do repeatedly and the skills you must master to be successful are remarkably similar. Looking back over my years with Ambit Energy, I’ve identified five simple things I have done every day that have helped me rise to the top.

Aaron Spina’s 5 Pillars of Network Marketing Success

  1. Add – Add a name to your prospect list (the more, the better)
  2. Invite – Invite someone to see your presentation
  3. Present...
